Why convert to WEBP?

WEBP typically produces smaller files than JPG or PNG at similar visual quality, which helps web pages load faster — most modern browsers support it natively.

Does converting PNG to JPG lose anything?

JPG does not support transparency, so any transparent areas in a PNG are filled with white when converted to JPG. JPG compression is also lossy, so very fine detail can soften slightly.

What is BMP good for?

BMP is an old, uncompressed format still required by some legacy software and printers. Files are much larger than JPG or PNG since no compression is applied.
