How to use

Password Generator in 3 steps

Choose a mode

Random characters for maximum entropy, pronounceable for something easier to say, or a word-based passphrase for something easier to remember.

Adjust the options

Set length, character classes, or word count depending on the mode.

Features

Why use this Password Generator

Three modes: fully random, pronounceable, or word-based passphrase.
Live entropy-based strength meter in bits, not just a vague label.

FAQ

Questions about this tool

How is password strength measured here?

This tool calculates entropy in bits: log2(character-set size ^ length) for random/pronounceable passwords, or log2(word-list size ^ word-count) for passphrases — a widely used, objective measure of how many guesses a brute-force attack would need.

Is a passphrase as secure as a random password?

A passphrase with enough words can have comparable or greater entropy than a shorter random password, while being much easier for a human to remember and type — length and unpredictability matter more than complexity alone.

Are these passwords sent anywhere or logged?

No — every password is generated locally in your browser using the Web Crypto API's secure random number generator, and nothing is ever transmitted or stored.

What does "pronounceable" mode do?

It alternates consonant and vowel sounds to build a password that's easier to read aloud and remember short-term than fully random characters, while still being unpredictable.
