FAQ

Questions about this tool

Will this work on a scanned PDF?

Only if the scan already has an OCR text layer embedded in it. A pure image scan with no underlying text layer has no text for this tool to extract, since it does not perform optical character recognition.

Does the extracted text keep the original formatting?

Basic reading order and page breaks are preserved, but complex formatting like columns, tables and exact spacing may not carry over perfectly, since PDF text positioning does not always map cleanly to plain text.

Is my document uploaded anywhere during extraction?

No. The entire extraction process runs locally using the pdf.js library inside your browser tab — the PDF and its text never leave your device.

Can I extract text from just certain pages?

This tool extracts all pages at once with clear page markers in the output, so you can quickly scroll to or delete the pages you don't need from the result.
