Questions about this tool

What is the difference between word-level and character-level comparison?

Word-level treats each whole word as a unit, so replacing "quick" with "fast" shows as one change. Character-level compares individual characters, which is more precise for catching small edits like fixing a typo within a word.

Does this work for comparing code?

It works on any plain text including code, though a dedicated code-diff tool with syntax awareness may highlight logical changes more meaningfully for programming languages.

Why do inline and side-by-side views look different?

Inline view merges both texts into one flowing passage with additions and deletions marked in place. Side-by-side view splits the same comparison into two columns — the original on the left with removals marked, the changed version on the right with additions marked — which some people find easier to scan.

Is there a text length limit?

No hard limit, but very large documents (tens of thousands of words) may take a moment longer to compare since the diff algorithm runs entirely in your browser.
