FAQ

Questions about this tool

What is the difference between component and full-URI encoding?

Component encoding (encodeURIComponent) escapes nearly every special character, making it safe for a single value like a query parameter. Full-URI encoding (encodeURI) leaves structural characters like :, /, ? and & untouched, since those are meant to keep working as part of a complete URL.

Why did my URL's & and = symbols disappear in Encode mode?

Use full-URI encoding instead of component encoding if you're encoding an entire URL — component encoding intentionally escapes & and = since it assumes you're encoding a single value, not a whole URL.

How does the query parameter table work?

When your input parses as a URL with a query string, every key=value pair after the ? is automatically extracted and shown as a table, with values already decoded for readability.

Can I encode a URL that contains non-English characters?

Yes, Unicode characters (like accented letters or non-Latin scripts) are encoded correctly into their percent-encoded UTF-8 byte representation.
