FAQ

Questions about this tool

How is reading time calculated?

It assumes an average adult silent reading speed of 200 words per minute, a commonly used baseline — actual reading time varies by content difficulty and reader.

Why does my sentence count seem off?

Sentence totals are estimated from ., ! and ? punctuation. Abbreviations, decimal numbers, lists and headings may change the count.

What counts as a paragraph?

A paragraph is any block of text separated from the next by one or more blank lines — this matches how most word processors define a paragraph.

Are common words like "the" and "and" included in keyword density?

No. The keyword list excludes common words such as "the" and "and", as well as words shorter than three characters. Percentages use the total word count, including excluded words.
