How to prepare an image for a size-limited form
Choose between image quality, dimensions and format when a portal sets a KB limit.
Online forms often specify three different limits: file size, pixel dimensions and accepted format. A photo that meets one limit can still fail another. Write down all three requirements before editing; do not rely on a smaller-looking preview.
Work from a copy
Keep the original photo so you can try a different setting without repeatedly compressing the last result. On the Image Compressor, add the JPG, PNG or WEBP file and choose either Quality or Target size. Quality lets you pick how much detail to keep. Target size asks the browser library to try to fit under a KB value, but a particular image may still miss that target.
Suppose a portal asks for a JPG under 200 KB and no larger than 600 × 600 pixels. First use Image Resizer to set the required pixel dimensions. Then use Image Converter if your source is PNG or WEBP and the portal requires JPG. Finally, try 190 KB in the compressor to leave a little room beneath the stated ceiling. Check the actual downloaded file's size and extension before uploading.
How to choose a setting
Photographs often shrink substantially as JPG or WEBP because those formats discard details the eye may not notice at normal size. Text screenshots and logos may look worse under strong photo compression; PNG may keep their sharp edges better. If compression makes tiny letters or a face hard to recognise, try a higher quality setting or a cleaner source image.
The compressor can process several files in a batch. Device memory still sets a practical limit, especially on phones. For a large collection, process smaller groups and inspect each downloaded result. Some files that were already highly compressed may become larger; the before and after figures help you catch that.
Final upload check
Look at the saved image at its intended display size, confirm the required dimensions and file type, and upload that saved file. If a form rejects it, check the portal's exact limit wording: “200 KB maximum” may differ from a 200 KiB limit, and the accepted format may be narrower than the file picker suggests.
